When Powell Fox, owner of Clero Landscaping Inc., had his first trial with a skid steer in 2005, he was impressed by the Cat equipment and knew he would continue working with Gregory Poole. Fox shares his reasoning for choosing Cat machines, “The [Cat] machines are extremely dependable. They can get into tighter areas and smaller landscapes; they have more power and have the capacity to load and haul. It’s certainly a lot easier to get around the jobsite than with a tractor and a front-end loader. It’s more sensitive than a tractor with a loader, you can pick up more. The buckets are interchangeable and the attachments easy to apply and use. We use the 304E mini-excavator and the 257D skid steer on every construction job – one ripping and digging out and the other loading. It’s a fantastic combination.”

The company tends to operate within a 60-mile radius of their base in Oxford, NC, covering areas such as Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Durham, Lake Gaston, Kerr Lake, Henderson, Burlington, Elon, Hillsborough and Mebane. On average, the company will be working on three projects a day with their workforce of 12. Powell Fox is very passionate about the work that Clero does and about the landscaping industry. He has shared that passion with his son, Tyler, who has been working alongside his father in the business for 12 years, learning the ropes.

Clero Landscaping depends on their Cat equipment to be able to follow through with their total project approach. “We try to do the whole project from concept to completion,” a philosophy that has earned the company high praise over its years in business.
