Peace of Mind For M&W Land Improvement, Inc.

M&W Land Improvement, Inc. started in 2003 with a handful of guys landscaping residential yards for newly constructed homes. They have grown to an average of 38 employees. Today, they provide landscaping services to several home builders in the area. Their services include sod delivery and installation from their own 200-plus acre centipede sod farm. In addition, they work in several other phases of construction providing trucking, land clearing, storm drain installation, grading parking lots, streets, and more.

The companyā€™s very first skid steer was purchased from Gregory Poole in 2003.Ā  It was a CatĀ® 257B Multi-Terrain Loader and helped build their business based on all the varied phases of construction these machines enabled them to provide. They have since developed their relationships with Gregory Poole. ā€œOur salesman, Bill Poteat, and service advisor, Michael Jennings, are great to work with and I consider them to be partners in our business,ā€ says Curtis Morton, President.

From their first Cat purchase, to today, they feel very strongly about our Cat equipment and rarely even price competitorsā€™ machines when they are looking to purchase new equipment. ā€œWe know the quality of Caterpillar equipment and the excellent service and support we will get from Gregory Poole on every piece of machinery.Ā  This helps us focus on our projects and not to worry as much about the equipment.ā€

M&W Land Improvement is a family owned and family-oriented business.Ā  They want their employees and their company to be successful and, while not all the equipment is new, try to maintain a clean, professional looking fleet of vehicles and equipment.

Currently, the company is working on a wide variety of projects; lot clearing, building house pads, and installing erosion control on over 75 new residential homesites for some of the builders in and around Onslow and Carteret counties.Ā  They are working with Morton Trucking on a few projects: parking lots at Sturgeon City (Jacksonville, NC) and storm drainage, grading, clearing, and so forth at MARSOC ā€“ P1475.Ā  They are also currently providing the fine grading and landscaping of dozens of residential yards in two counties, Onslow and Pender.

M & W Land Improvement focuses mainly in Carteret, Onslow, Pender, and New Hanover counties but will occasionally go as far as Wake County and Brunswick County for some of their customers.

Within the past few years, they have made Customer Service Agreements with Gregory Poole on every new machine they have purchased.Ā  ā€œThis has been a real success for us.Ā  We know our equipment is being serviced on time, every time.Ā  Oil samples let us know if there is a machine we need to shut down or take a closer look at to prevent costly repairs.ā€

Curtis Morton recalls, ā€œIn one particular case, we received an email that our 279C was running hot.Ā  We shut the machine down and sent it to Gregory Poole for a warranty repair.Ā  It turned out that there was an issue with the head gasket on the engine.Ā  A simple fix was made that saved us from a catastrophic engine failure.Ā  We didnā€™t always have that peace of mind.ā€

In their fleet of Cat machines today, M&W Land Improvement is proud to have:
