Cat Trial 10: Tech Test

It’s a question we all have to deal with: what’s next? Maybe you’re finishing up high school. Maybe you’re looking to transition from military service to civilian life. Or maybe you or someone you know is just looking for a career change.

Are you a problem solver? Do you like working with your hands? Do you feel like four years of college is great for some, but might not be for you?

Over the next decade, Caterpillar and Cat dealers around the world will be hiring tens of thousands of service technicians and you’ll see a similar trend across the industry. These are challenging, good paying jobs – so much more than turning wrenches. You’ll have the opportunity to become an expert working with the latest technology on hundreds of different Cat machines and engines, helping our
customers  – the people building the world – get the job done in industries like:

• agriculture
• construction
• earthmoving
• locomotive
• logging and forestry
• power generation
• marine
• material handling
• mining
• road building
• trucking and transport

Cat Trial 10: Tech Test celebrates the amazing work technicians do and gives them the chance to show off their skills! Technicians work in a fast-paced environment and Tech Test combines that with exciting challenges to test their skill and endurance. The course consists of four challenges: The Cat Can Test is a 3D puzzle we designed; an oversized version of the one that some dealerships use to gage mechanical aptitude. Next, we test their desire to learn, where they’ll match Cat engines to specific applications. From there, they’ll hit the troubleshooting challenge, testing their knowledge of Cat services. And they’ll finish with a safety mindset assessment, where they use the Cat App to do a walkaround and pull a parts order.

These are outstanding careers. As a service technician, you’ll get hands-on experience, a stable career and solid earning potential. And it’s a skill that is transferable, so if you want to work in a different part of the country, or the world… the opportunities are endless with the global Cat network.
